The life duration of tooth implants, crowns, and prostheses considerably depends on oral hygiene. Neglecting of simple rules of care can lead to gum inflammation and oral cavity mucosa irritation.

How to take care of tooth prostheses

The overlay nylon prostheses and acrylic prostheses as well can be easily cleaned. Rinse prostheses with water from food debris right after the meal. For this procedure, purified or boiled water should be better used, since when rinsing with raw flow water there is a risk of undesirable contact with bacteria.

However, a proper care of tooth prostheses involves not only water rinsing. In order to remove bacteria and remainders of overdentures retaining cream, they should be treated with disinfectant solutions sold at the chemists. Experience has proven that care of overdenture has no great difficulties, but it is badly needed so as they could always look lovely and cause no discomforts.

Which should be tooth prostheses cleaned with?

Generally, tooth prostheses are cleaned with a toothbrush for detailed plaque removal. For this procedure a special paste for prostheses free of bleaching agents is also used. Overdentures should be cleaned prior to their submerging into disinfectant solution or water flushing.

If, however, all the foregoing care instructions do not contribute to achievement of desired effect, prosthesis should be brought to a dental clinic, where solid deposits would be removed and professional cleaning carried out. Overdentures should be delivered for cleaning once per 6 months.

Regular and expert care will increase a useful lifetime of prosthesis and prevent the development of many oral cavity dental diseases.

How to store prostheses

Few words are worth to be said about how to store tooth prostheses. It has been said that they should be obligatory placed into a glass with special solution or water for the night. But such an allegation is wrong. And we will immediately explain why.

The fact is that overdentures were formerly made of rubber which began to crack under the action of air. Therefore, such prostheses had to be stored in liquid indeed.

A glass of clean water.

Presently, overdentures are made of special plastic materials (nylon or acryl), which do not crack being notable of high-wearing features and provoking no allergic reactions.

After all, if you prefer to store prostheses in water, you should avoid very hot water, since they may lose shape under temperature.

As you can see, it is not difficult or time-consuming to care of tooth prostheses. Do observe simple hygiene rules, and your smile will remain glamorous and healthy for years to come.
