Dysport: the principle of action
Wrinkles and creases appear in places where facial muscles contract. A botulinum toxin drug blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the muscles that leads to a weakening of muscle strength and eliminates the cause of skin creases. During the period of action of botulinum toxin (6-8 months) the skin is regenerated and rejuvenated, due to which all the fine lines and folds disappear. In the therapy of hyperhidrosis the principle of action is based on the blockade of nerve impulses that trigger the sweat glands, which reduces the sweat secretion.
In what problems is botulinum therapy indicated:
- forehead lines, lines around and under the eyes, lipstick lines, nose wrinkles (bunny lines);
- asymmetry in the shape of the eyebrows;
- drooping corners of the mouth;
- rosacea;
- hyperhidrosis
Results of Dysport injections
Just after the procedure, the results are noticeable, but the effect becomes pronounced after 7-14 days. You will notice how the skin becomes flat, smooth and small, medium or even deep wrinkles will be smoothed. The contour of your face will become clearer if the oval is corrected.
As we have already said, Dysport is eliminated after 6-8 months, but this indicator is different for each individual. The sites for the injection are treated with antiseptic means. Very thin needles are used for the procedure, so there is practically no pain. The session takes from 7 to 25 minutes (depending on the number of administered units of drug)
What do you need to know?
As such, there is no rehabilitation, but a number of rules should be followed:
- Maintain an upright body position for 3-4 hours after injection;
- Avoid strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after the procedure;
- Do not sunbathe on the beach, avoid sauna/hot showers/bath-house for 2 weeks.
The procedure is contraindicated in the following cases:
- diabetes;
- neuromuscular disorders;
- allergy to constituents to botulin toxin product;
- keloid scars;
- oncology.
