My name is Ekaterina Krasnolenskaya. I am a dentist-therapist, I work in the Prizma Clinic. But in combination, I am also an ordinary person who also needs dental treatment.
How I made the decision
Crowding has been a problem for me since childhood. At the age of 10, I wore a removable appliance (plate) on the upper jaw. A complete result was not obtained. In the future, the correction of uneven teeth was not engaged. At the age of 20, I had my lower wisdom teeth removed due to their incorrect position in the jaw and the impossibility of full eruption (retention and dystopia). I received regular recommendations for orthodontic treatment, but at that moment I refused to align my teeth with braces. With the upper eighth teeth, I lived for another 9 years, until I decided to remove them, because they had a buccal location, and & nbsp; due to the lack of lower wisdom teeth (antagonists), food was constantly clogged between the eighth and seventh teeth. It was at this time I thought about orthodontic treatment, since the preparation for it had already been completed (the removed wisdom teeth made room for further movement of the teeth and putting them in the correct position), and the aesthetic factor became even more noticeable & nbsp; (crowding in the lower jaw worsened). I decided to take a comprehensive approach to my dental treatment and take up orthodontics, although it was not easy to decide on this due to various reasons.
Choosing a bracket system
Thanks to the profession, I had enough information about the possibilities and types of orthodontic treatment. The main selection criteria were aesthetics and efficiency. After exploring various options, I settled on the Insignia system. This is one of the latest technologies introduced by our orthodontists. It allows you to make individual braces and arcs for a particular patient. Its main advantage is the predictable visualized treatment. That is, at the diagnostic stage, you can see your treatment plan on 3D models.
Diagnosis
At the orthodontic appointment, I underwent a thorough diagnostics: impressions were taken, a panoramic x-ray (orthopantomogram) and teleradiography (image in a lateral projection) were taken. The impressions were sent to the USA for treatment planning and 3D imaging. After 2 weeks, a preliminary treatment plan came. Orthodontists corrected and approved it. Now we are waiting for braces!
Clinical picture
The patient complained of an aesthetic defect in the teeth of the upper and lower jaws. Objectively: crowded position of the teeth of the upper and lower jaws;
Diagnosis: – neutral bite (I class Angle);
– narrowing of the dentition in / h, n / h;
– crowded position of the teeth in / h, n / h;
– traumatic occlusion;
– cosmetic defect.
